Company overview

Data Quality Systems pf (a.k.a. DQS) specializes in Data Quality Management Systems and related services. It is a privately held company formed in 2007 with head quarter in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean.

DQS aims at establishing itself as a leading player in the Data Quality Management System business with initial focus on the Meteorological and Oceanographical (Met-Ocean) market.

A key source of inspiration for the founders initially was the extremely varied oceanographic climate and the extreme onshore climate in the Faroe Islands, by some termed ‘the playground of the weather Gods’. Based on 20 years of experience in meteorological and oceanographic projects the founders started to develop a solid QA management approach for assessing Met-Ocean data.

Solutions offered by DQS are targeted at the international market, where multiple professionals typically cooperate in project networks across multiple, dispersed locations.  The objective is to alleviate some of the most commonly recognized issues in Met-Ocean data quality management in a single, coherent, yet open and transportable data quality management system.

Application of DQS’ solutions are to increase the value of Met-Ocean data through e.g. improved data handling ability in an efficient, structured and transparent manner.

To achieve this, DQS set out to embed knowledge management into daily business processes through a systematic approach to quality assurance of data throughout the Met-Ocean value chain, i.e. from project specification, data gathering specification to data qualification and reporting. Accordingly, DQS focuses on developing and marketing end-to-end software solutions and related services within data quality management in the Met-Ocean market.

DQS aims at covering all standard Met-Ocean parameters over time. However initially the focus will be on developing a palette of different specific applications which cover the most frequently used part of the available observation schemes, such as current observations, wave observations, wind observations, oceanographic CTD observations.

As such a palette of applications develop, DQS is always open to discuss and evaluate co-development opportunities or potential user defined standards.
